HC restrains Salil Ankola from working in 'Big Boss'
Mumbai, Nov 8 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today restrained actor and former cricketer Salil Ankola from working in reality television show ''Big Boss'' following an allegation by Balaji Telefilms that he had broken a contract with them.
Justice D K Deshmukh held that while the matter remains pending before the Arbitration Tribunal but since the complainant has sought a stay, Ankola cannot act nor endorse, advertise or do voice-overs for any other production house or channel other than Balaji Telefilms.
The court was told that Ankola had entered into a contract with Balaji Telefilms for their serial ''Karam Apna Apna'', according to which he could not act for any other production house or channel that directly or indirectly competed with Balaji Telefilms for twelve months from the day the serial was aired for the first time.
However, while the serial ''Karam Apna Apna'' was first telecast on August 29 on Star plus and the shooting schedule was 20 days a month, Ankola allegedly disappeared to shoot for ''Big Boss'' in October.
Balaji Telefilms approached the Arbitration Tribunal for a breach of contract and sought an injunction from the High Court.
