HC orders probe into kidnapping of witness

Patna, Nov 8: Patna High Court today directed Saran Police Superintendent to inquire into the alleged kidnapping of one Lalmuni Devi, a witness in the murder case pending against RJD MP from Maharajganj Prabhunath Singh.

A division bench of Justices Aftab Alam and Justice Samrendra Pratap Singh passed the order during the hearing of criminal writ filed by Mr Harendra Rai, son of Ms Lalmuni Devi. Mr Rai had prayed before the court to issue directive to authorities to trace out his mother.

The court ordered the DIG of Saran to supervise the investigation in the case and file report within one week.

Through the petition Harendra Rai had alleged that his mother, the prime witness of a murder case involving the MP was abducted by him and his henchmen.

The matter would be heard again on November 17.
