HC directs government to appoint manager at Nizamuddin dargah
New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi Government to appoint an official as the manager of the famed Nizamuddin dargah in Central Delhi for the smooth functioning of affairs at the dargah of the sufi saint.
A Division Bench of Justice M K Sharma Justice Hima Kohli directed the state government to constitute a committee to develop the shrine and the monument.
The Court receiver submitted a report stating that on October 30, 2006, the offerings at the shrine were about Rs 3.55 lakh.
The Court directed the ''chaddars'' offered at the shrine should be distributed among the poor and destitute.
A website should be launched to give wide publicity to the shrine of the great saint and the donations could be collected online, the Court said.
Acting on the petition of the NGO -- 'Hum Aap Ke', the High Court had appointed Survey Commissioner of the Wakf Board Azim-ul-Haq as the "receiver" of the Nizamuddin dargah to collect the offerings.
In its petition, the NGO alleged that crores of rupees of public donations were being usurped by some of the people who claimed to be the descendants of the saint Nizamuddin.
