Haryana to award scholarships to 50,000 govt school students
Chandigarh, Nov 8 (UNI) The Haryana Government has earmarked an amount of around Rs three crore for rewarding 50,000 meritorious students of government schools of the state under the ''Rajiv Gandhi Chhatravariti Yojna'' during the current financial year.
An official spokesman said yesterday this ambitious scheme was aimed at giving a boost to admissions, attracting more students government schools, encouraging girls to continue their education, and imbibing the feeling of healthy competition among students.
Under this scheme scholarships would be given to the first position holder both boy and girl from class 6th to 12th of the government schools. The first position holder from class 6th to 8th would be awarded a scholarship of Rs 750 annually and students from class 9th to 12th an annual scholarship of Rs 1000 each.
The spokesman said the State Government, under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was committed to providing better educational facilities and to improve the quality of education being imparted to children.
