Guj expects major investment from Chinese, Singapore companies
Gandhinagar, Nov 8 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said several companies from China and Singapore have expressed 'positive interest' in pursuing trade relations with Gujarat.
Describing his visit to these countries as ''very fruitful,'' Mr Modi said, ''I have invited them to come and experience the vibrancy of Gujarat. They have all shown great interest in our state. I hope major investments will come in our SEZs and other major infrastructure facilities.'' Mr Modi was speaking to mediapersons at a 'sneh milan' (informal get-together) organised at his residence.
Gujarat already has 25 Special Economic Zones approved and the main objective of the visit was to see the SEZ-led development of China, he said.
''Gujarat has earned the distinction of becoming the most investment friendly state. I am keen to make Gujarat India's SEZ Capital having world-class facilities,'' he added.
A Chinese delegation will come to Gujarat to study the prospect of developing a concept of sister city between Surat and Sichuan and train Gujarati students in Chinese language.
The Chief Minister said he has requested China to consider having a direct airlink between Shanghai and Ahmedabad. ''This will give a boost to trade in gems, diamonds, textiles etc. A lot of Gujaratis are there in China and it would be a great help to them.'' The get-together was held as a customary 'New Year' (post Diwali) gathering, hosted by the Chief Minister every year.
