ECoR to host All India Railway Volleyball Championship

Bhubaneswar, Nov 8 (UNI) Several International players will be seen in action in the All India Railway Volley Ball Championship to be held here from November 11 to 17.

East Coast Railways(ECoR) General Manager Narendra Kumar Goel told newsmen here that 18 Men's team and 7 women's team from different Zones and Production Units of Indian Railways will participate in the week-long Championship.

East Coast Railway Sports Association (ECoRSA) president Dilip Kumar Samantaray said the championship featuring a total of 52 matches would be played on a league-cum-knock out basis.

Most of the matches, he said, would be played under floodlights at Rail Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, while some league matches would be conducted at Mancheswar Workshop Ground.

He said India Volleyball Team Captain Rabikanta Reddy and current international players like Sibarasan, Srikant, Pradip Kumar and Kapil from Men's group and India Women Team Captain Vaishali, including international players Geetaraju, Betsy, Vora and Shibi K J, would participate in the championship.

Jhinilata Sena of Orissa will represent the Eastern Railway, Kolkata.

The Opening Ceremony of the Championship will be inaugurated by Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
