Downsizing; Sensex below 13,100 points

Mumbai, Nov 8: The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex at noon today extended it's fall and is now below 13,100 points, as profit booking continued. The Sensex was down 87.76 points from yesterday's close at 13,068.90. It had slipped to a fresh low of 13,068.04, a little while ago. It's high for the day has been 13,202.68, brokers here said.

Hero Honda was the top loser, down 3.77 per cent at Rs 715.

REL was the top gainer, up 1.66 per cent at Rs 515.

Software major Infosys gained 1.45 per cent at Rs 2,133.

Index heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL) lost 1.30 per cent at Rs 1,273.45.

Eveready Industries rose 1.78 per cent at Rs 77, on reports that it plans to raise it's product (battery) prices by 10-15 per cent from 1 December 2006, to counter rising prices of key input zinc.

Asian stocks were subdued today after the previous session's run to record highs, as investors cautiously awaited results of the US congressional elections.

Japan's Nikkei slipped 1.17 per cent today as investors punished Softbank Corp. ahead of it's earnings results, and due to caution exercised before the outcome of the US congressional elections. Nikkei lost 192.22 points, at 16,201.19.

Hang Seng index was down marginally by 17.62 points (0.09 per cent), at 18,921.69, brokers added.
