Congress to counter BJP's Parivartan Rally with Vikas Sankalp Yatra
Dehradun, Nov 8 (UNI) With the Assembly elections round the corner, hectic political activity was gaining ground in Uttaranchal with the parties going all out to canvass support.
To counter BJP's proposed 'Parivartan Rally' from November 9-25, the Congress today announced a 'Vikas Sankalp Yatra', immediately after BJP's rally concludes on November 25, state general secretary Dhirendra Pratap said today.
Defying rumours of factionalism in the state Congress, Chief Minister Narain Dutt Tiwari and state unit chief Harish Rawat would jointly lead the 'Yatra', Mr Rawat told UNI.
He said, ''All legislators and ministers would register their presence during the rally,'' he said, adding that the rally would begin from state capital Dehradun and would touch every nook and cranny in the state.
Mr Pratap said the Yatra would counter the BJP's propaganda and apprise of the people of the state government's achievements and programmes.
BJP had recently announced ''Parivartan Rally'' from November 9, the sixth foundation day of the state till November 25, the birthday of former prime minister and senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The Parivartan Rally is scheduled to begin from Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar and conclude at Haldwani.
