CJI calls upon judges to act as role model

New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Chief Justice of India YK Sabharwal today called upon the judges to act as ''role models''.

Addressing the lawyers and the judges at a function organised at Tis Hazari today, he stressed the need for the judges to play a proactive role outside the courts and act as role models.

He also described disposal of a case in reasonable time a fundamental right. The Chief Justice expressed satisfaction over increasing ratio of the cases disposed of to the cases filed.

The annual disposal rate per judge in the district courts has increased by 42 per cent Justice Sabharwal attributed the phenomenon to hundred per cent computerisation of the court processes.

The Chief Justice released annual report of Delhi district courts, first annual report of Delhi mediation centres, district court hand books.

Among those present on the occasion were acting Chief Justice of High Court Vijender Jain and Justice Anil Kumar.
