Case against RJD leader for asaulting policemen

Lucknow, Nov 8 (UNI) Police today lodged a case against a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader for rioting and manhandling policemen in Sitapur district after losing the urban local body elections.

Police said here a case has been registered against Ishtiyak and 125 of his supporters for rioting and damaging public property after he lost the Tambor Nagar Panchayat election yesterday.

Soon after the results were declared last evening, the RJD leader made aninflammatory speech against the local MLA and police officials, alleging rigging.

When the police tried to disperse his supporters, they attacked the personnel and indulged in stone pelting. Police claimed the RJD workers also damaged vehicles and other public property.
