Bandopadhyay is new AIR DG (News)

New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Senior Indian Information Service officer P K Bandopadhyay was today promoted and appointed the new Director General (News) of All India Radio.

Mr Bandopadhyay, who has been made additional secretary, succeeds Mr U K Mishra who is shifted to the Department of Audio Visual Publicity as Director General.

The government also promoted information service official Shipra Biswas as additional secretary and appointed her as Additional Director General at Press Information Bureau.

Another official who was promoted to additional secretary is Mr Amitabha Chakrabarti, who has been shifted as Registrar of Newspapers of India from Research, Reference and Training Division where he was Director.

Mr Chakrabarti swaps places with Mr Mohan Chandak.

Mr Swagata Ghosh was appointed Director General (News), Doordarshan.
