Army Greens, Gorkha Rifles win in Durand Cup

New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Gorkha Rifles edged out SAIL Kolkata by a solitary goal while Army Green blanked Shimla Youngs 4-0 to inch closer to a pre-quarterfinal spot in the 119th Osian's Durand Cup here today.

Gorkha Rifles and SAIL were going neck-and-neck and it was in fact the Kolkata side which seemed to have an upper hand in the match. Dipen Rai, however, stunned SAIL with a 88th minute strike that made all the difference and earned a win for the Gorkha Rifles.

Army Green, on their part, never allowed Shimla Youngs any toehold in the match and after Ashok Lepcha opened the account in the 20th minute, Aji B buttressed the lead in the 51st minute.

It took them another nine minutes to find the net again through Diwash Chhetri and Aji then completed his brace in the 85th minute to seal the match in his team's favour.
