Air Force to have developed versions of Brahmos: Pillai
Visakhapatnam, Nov 8: The Brahmos supersonic cruise missile, developed jointly by India and Russia, was undergoing further tests to suit the needs of India Air Force, according to DRDO Chief Controller A Sivathanu Pillai.
Speaking at the three-day workshop organised by Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) here last night, he said the NSTL had achieved a major breakthrough by developing an experimental thermal propulsion technology for light weight Torpedoes in place of conventional electrical propulsion systems.
He said the Indian Navy had already inducted Brahmos and the Army would induct it next year.
Mr Pillai said 20 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) were awaiting operational clearance in the first phase.
