20 Cong Municipal Corporation of Delhi members resign

New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Congress members in Municipal Corporation of Delhi's Standing Committee today tendered their resignations in protest against resumption of the sealing drive against unauthorised shops in the capital.

All 13 Congress members present in the Standing Committee meeting today put in their papers to Leader of the MCD house Jitendra Kochar through Standing Committee Chairman Jaikishan Sharma to express solidarity with the affected traders.

Meanwhile, seven Congress Municipal Councillors -- Ramesh Pandit, Anil Vashishth, Deepika Khullar, Prem Kumar, E S Baghadi, Zamir Ahmed and L D Ahuja -- also resigned ''to identify themselves with the people''.

The BJP on the other hand termed it as a political stunt, saying MCD elections were anyway round corner and people would see through the move.
