2 dead in cylinder explosion at Obra Thermal Power Station
Robertsganj, Nov 8 (UNI) Two people died and three others sustained grievous injuries in a gas cylinder explosion at the Obra Thermal Power Station in Sonebhadra district of Uttar Pradesh this afternoon.
Several others, including Station chief general manager Sri Ram and other engineers, had a narrow escape in the mishap.
The explosion occurred when the gas cylinders were being off-loaded from a truck.
Obra unit is owned by the UP State Power Corporation.
Mr Ram said renovation was on at the 50 megawatt unit by private contractors Arvind and R P Vishwakarma. The gas cylinders had been requisitioned for the same.
In the explosion, both the contractors died on the spot, while three others were severely injured and taken to hospital.
A case had been registered against the suppliers of the gas cylinders.
