Yoga education not mandatory in K'taka schools
Hubli, Nov 7 (UNI) The Karnataka Government today clarified that it has not made yoga education compulsory in primary and secondary schools.
In an official release here, State Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti warned of stringent action against those institutions issuing 'Yoga certificates' to teacher candidates taking money from them, stating that it was compulsory.
He said his statement that the Government was considering to make Yoga education compulsory in schools had led to the confusion. He had suggested to Physical Education Experts Committee, headed by Prof L R Vaidyanathan, to give a report on giving preference to teacher candidates having yoga training.
