Yediyurappa calls on Advani, Rajnath to discuss party leadership
New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today called on BJP leader L K Advani, party President Rajnath Singh and General Secretary Sanjay Joshi.
Although Mr Yediyurappa was not available for comments, his political meetings are believed to be centred around the election of next Karnataka BJP President.
Party sources said the party was inclined to field a candidate in the byelections to Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency against former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who is seeking to contest on a Congress ticket.
The party maintains that it had secured second highest number of votes and hence should contest the elections even if it means contesting against its alliance partner Janata Dal (Secular).
"We (alliance partners) have not talked about the issue, but we are serious to field our nominee", a Karnataka leader not wanting to be quoted said.
Earlier in the day Mr Yediyurappa met Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz to seek CWC clearance for the Kalasa Banduri diversion project.
The project, seeks to divert little over seven TMC of inter-state Mahadai river to Malaprabha dam for meeting the drinking water requirements of twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad and numerous north Karnataka villages. He was accompanied by Karnataka Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar and Mr Prahlad Joshi, BJP MP.
