Ajmer, Nov 7 (UNI) Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists today beat up mediapersons who were covering a dispute over shifting a temple in city's Christianganj area.

Mediamen, who were thrashed in the presence of police, demanded the arrest of VHP activists and suspension of Christianganj police station incharge Shankar Lal Ojha. They blocked the road for over two hours.

According to information, city's Urban Improvement Trust is constructing a Gaurav Path near the Annasagar Lake. For this the road has to be widened for which Shiv temple would have to be shifted.

But this morning, VHP office-bearer Subhash Gehlot and several other activists started a protest against the shifting of temple.

Daily Patrika's photographer Mohan Kumawat, Bhaskar lensman Satyanarayan Jhala and Bhaskar TV's Neeraj and cameraman who reached the site to cover the protest, were beaten up by VHP activists.

Later some more scribes reached the spot and engaged in a scuffle with VHP workers. Christianganj police station's incharge Shankar Lal Ojha and other policemen were present on the spot when the incident occurred.

Although the police arrested Mr Gehlot, he was later released which angered the mediapersons, who then blocked the road for two hours. Later the police arrested three VHP activists.
