Vande Mataram should be included in Constitution: Rajnath
Naihati, Nov 7 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Rajanath Singh today demanded incorporation ''Vande Mataram'' in the Constitution.
Addressing a protest rally organised by the Barrackpore District Committee of the BJP, Mr Singh said the Union Government should bring legislation for amendment of the Article 51(A) inducting the song along with the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana.' ''By making the song optional in the educational institutions, Union Human Resouce Ministry has dishonoured the song and hundreds of freedom fighters,'' he said.
The BJP chief also criticised the CPI-M led government in the state for utilising the ''minority vote bank.'' He also criticised Prime minister Manmohan Singh who was pleading reservations for the muslims at this juncture when the elections in UP and some other states were round the corner.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by the party observer of West Bengal affair M A Kharbesh Singh (MP), former Union Minister Satyabrata Mukhopadhyay and former BJP state secretary Sukumar Banerjee.
