Simranjit Singh exonerated of treason charges
New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) A TADA court here today acquitted Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD-Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann of sedition charges.
Mann had been charged under various sections of TADA and section 124 (A) of Indian Penal Code in the case.
Police had filed the case against Mann and other associates when he, on April 7, 1991, had raised slogans before the Gurdwara Rakabganj against the government and had said the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was right and justifiable.
He had also demanded the creation of Khalistan during the protest.
TADA Judge Ravinder Kaur pronounced the verdict.
