Renowned filmmaker N N Sippy dies in Mumbai
Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Noted Bollywood distributor and producer N N Sippy, who gave showman Subhash Ghai his first break in movies, died at the Breach Candy hospital here today.
He was 75. He is survived by a son and three daughters.
He was suffering from a heart ailment for a long time and was undergoing treatment at the Breach Candy hospital. The end came at 1830 hrs this evening, family sources said.
A leading distributor, Mr Sippy turned to production and delivered a couple of memorable hits. He produced about 25 movies.
He gave Ghai his first break as director in Shatrughan Sinha-Reena Roy starrer 'Kalicharan'. Similarly, he introduced southern beauty Jaya Prada to Bollywood opposite Rishi Kapoor in 'Sargam'.
Among his other hits were 'Fakira' and 'Chor Machaye Shor'.
The funeral will take place at the Chandanwadi crematorium in south Mumbai at 1100 hrs tomorrow.
