M'lore violence report to be done by Nov-end
Mangalore, Nov 7: Karnataka Additional Chief Secretary A K Agarwal, inquiring into the administrative lapses, if any, in the recent communal disturbances in the city and its outskirts, today said he would submit his report to the Government the month-end.
Addressing newspersons after visiting the violence-hit areas and receiving petitions from victims, he said he had received 320 applications during his two-day stay here from a variety of people relating to the incidents. There was time till 1700 hrs on November 13 to submit individual or group petitions in the Deputy Commissioner's office. All these representations would be collected and reviewed before submitting the report.
The Government had asked him to submit the report within 15 days and he would seek an extension if required, he added.
Mr Agarwal said there was mixed reaction from the affected people about the action of police personnel during the violence, with a section praising them and another criticising them.
To a query, he said it was too early to make any comment on his visit. Before making any observation, he should go through all legal and administrative aspects. The entire inquiry procedure was in-camera, he added.
