Law student killed in college premises
Madurai, Nov 7 (UNI) A student of the Government Law College was brutally stabbed to death in front of the college by a rival group, reportedly with RSS leanings, in the city today.
Police said the victim, N Tamilvel (20), a second year law student, was attacked by a nine-member gang, led by Saravanan and Subash of Dindigul, immediately after the close of college hours.
He died on the way to the hospital. Mercenaries were also believed to be part of the gang, which had fled the scene after committing the offence.
According to police the deceased had earlier challenged the accused for persistently harassing and teasing a girl student of the college.
College sources said the victim, the second son in his family, had associated himself with Left organisations.
The sources added that some of the gang members had RSS leanings.
The murder created tension in the college premises.
