Jethmalani's petition seeking transfer of Jessica case rejected

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today rejected prime accused Manu Sharma's counsel Ram Jethmalani's plea seeking transfer of the Jessica Lall murder case to another court.

A Division Bench, headed by Justice R S Sodhi and Justice P K Bhasin, observed that the plea moved by Mr Jethmalani could not be entertained now as the case was drawing to an end.

Mr Jethmalani had sought the transfer of the case to another court on the grounds of a report carried by a national daily which said Justice Sodhi had refused to hear the same case in the year 2002 because he had been repeatedly approached by Manu Sharma's father to influence the verdict.

The Judges today also asked the media to cover cases more responsibly today. It seemingly called upon the media to refrain from creating hype to the extent of holding a lawyer, for all intents and purposes, responsible for a client's actions, or for the arguments advanced on a client's behalf.
