IndiGo to take delivery of fifth A320 on Nov 21

Mumbai, Nov 7: In a bid to enhance its route-network in western part of the country, low-fare domestic carrier IndiGo will take delivery of its fifth Airbus A320 aircraft on November 21.

The company also has plans to start daily service from Mumbai to Jaipur extending up to Delhi and back and daily round-trip service from Delhi to Goa.

Making a formal announcement about it before the media here today, IndiGo President and CEO Bruce Ashby said, ''As we continue to add brand new A320 to our fleet with the target of having 100 such aircraft over next 10 years, we will keep improving our connectivity to serve destinations across the length and breadth of the country.'' IndiGo will carry 4,75,000 passengers with 6 airplanes by the end of the current financial year, he said adding that nine more aircraft will be added next year. With this, the firm proposes to serve 30 cities of the country by 2010 with a fleet of A320s, Mr Ashby said.

IndiGo started operating its fourth Airbus A320 aircraft in October, commencing daily service from Mumbai to Vadodara extending to Delhi and back and from Mumbai to Nagpur with thesame aircraft flying to Kolkata and back.
