HP Cabinet approvals HPIDC, GAIL joint venture for gas supply

Shimla, Nov 7 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet today accepted H P Industrial Development Corporation's (HPIDC) proposal for exploring the possibility of carrying out pre-feasibility studies with Gas Authority of India (GAIL) for meeting energy requirements of industrial and other sectors in the state, an official spokesman said.

The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh accepted the corporation's proposal for carrying out pre-feasibility studies in joint venture with GAIL.

The spokesman said the gas supply would be in addition to the power supply to the industrial area and was likely to be cheaper than electricity.

Besides, the Cabinet approved regularization of the 423 contract doctors, which included 399 medical officers and 24 medical officers (Dental), who had completed the requisite minimum service up to December 31, 2004, he said.

The meeting approved uniform salary to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Government Dental College at Shimla and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Kangra at Tanda medical faculty, besides granting permission for filling up 43 posts of ward attendants, Class IV in the medical colleges, he added.

The Council of Ministers also decided to offer construction of commercial complex at Subzi Mandi in Shimla to private parties on Built Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis, he said.
