Haryana delivers 1.75 lakh tonnes paddy to Central Pool

Chandigarh, Nov 7 (UNI) Haryana has delivered over 1.75 lakh metric tonnes of rice to the Central Pool so far, as against 90,814 metric tonnes of rice delivered during the corresponding period last year.

The delivery to the Central Pool was made from the 19.79 lakh metric tonnes of paddy that had been procured by the five state government agencies and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today.

Another 14.32 lakh metric tonnes paddy had been purchased by the private millers and traders, which included 7.16 lakh metric tonnes of leviable and 7.15 lakh metric tonnes of non-leviable paddy.

According to Mr Chander Mohan who also holds the food portfolio, about 34.11 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in Haryana mandis so far as against 32.85 lakh metric tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

He said that out of the total paddy arrival, 26.95 lakh metric tonnes was leviable. About seven lakh metric tonnes were basmati and other superior quality.

He said that district Kurukshetra was leading with about 6.80 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrival, followed by Karnal with about 4.89 lakh metric tonnes, Fatehabad with 4.75 lakh metric tonnes, Kaithal with 4.33 lakh metric tonnes and Ambala with 2.91 lakh metric tonnes.
