DPL, Belgium company sign MoU to develop Dighi Port
Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) A memorandum of understanding was today signed between Dighi Port Ltd and Jan De Nul NV in presence of Belgium Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt to develop the port.
Jan De Nul Group specialises in dredging and land reclamation, rock placing, trenching, rock dumping for oil and gas-related offshore pipeline projects, quay walls, marine-related projects, civil engineering and large-scale environmental remediation projects.
The Balaji Infra Projects Limited (Vijay Kalantri Group) is engaged in the development, operations, management, administration, financing and marketing of Dighi Port.
Dighi Port has signed a concession agreement for 50 years on BOOT basis with Maharashtra Maritime Board thereby rendering it to be a joint sector initiative with the Maharashtra Government.
DPL is setting up an all weather deep draft direct berthing port at Dighi (Southern shore) and Agardanda (Northern Shore) of Rajpuri Creek in Raigad district.
Apart from multi-purpose and multi-commodities cargo berths, DPL would also provide all supportive infrastructure, utilities and communications facilities, connectivity and stack yards, warehouses, state-of-the-art cargo handling equipments for efficient and effecting loading and unloading of cargo, a DPL press release here today said.
