CM urges Planning Board to study reasons behind farmers' suicides
Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has urged the State Planning Board to constitute a team to study the reasons for suicides by farmers and to suggest ways to prevent the same.
Mr Deshmukh's suggestion came during the State Planning Board meeting here today.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister reminded the Board about Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's commitment to achieve an eight per cent growth rate during the 11th Five Year Plan. In order to realise this, Maharashtra should attain a growth rate of ten per cent, the Chief Minister told the Board.
Mr Deshmukh also urged the need to usher in development of the backward regions in the state.
