BSF rout RCF in Surjit hockey tourney
Jalandhar, Nov 7(UNI) Good performance by Captain Habil Topalo (2 goals) enabled Border Security Force(BSF) Jalandhar to record 3-0 win against Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala in the 23rd Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament here today.
The first super league round match between the two teams at the Burlton Park Surjit Hockey Stadium was more or less one sided affair in which BSF dominated the proceedings from the beginning.
Winning team's Captain Habil exhibited spectacular performance giving advancements to the team on several occasions. In 9th minute he advanced with the ball in the rivals' D and posted fine field goal. He struck again in the second half to convert a penalty corner in the 59th minute. Five minutes later left out Sarabhraj also made a superb field move and sound the post to give the team 3-0 solid lead.
Earlier, in the preliminary knock out round match of the day, better scoring in the tie-breaker enabled Sports Authority of India (SAI) Delhi to knock out EME Jalandhar by 7-6 and move into the Super league round.
