Bolton's Diouf arrested after alleged assault on wife

LONDON, Nov 7 (Reuters) Bolton Wanderers's Senegal striker El-Hadji Diouf has been arrested following an alleged assault on his wife Valerie at the weekend.

The 25-year-old forward was later released on bail.

A Greater Manchester Police statement said: ''At 6.45am on Sunday 5th November, police were called to an address in Bolton following reports of an assault.

''Officers attended and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a Section 47 (Actual Bodily Harm) assault.

''He has since been bailed until tomorrow pending further enquiries.'' Diouf, a former African Footballer of the Year, has been at the Premier League club for more than two years after initially joining on loan in 2004 from Liverpool.
