Why does CPI(M) not talk of irregularities in WB?: CLP

Hyderabad, Nov 6 (UNI) Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today questioned the CPI(M), which has been campaigning against the Congress government in the state, why it did not talk about alleged 'irregularities' in West Bengal.

Talking to reporters here, they alleged that while the West Bengal government was acting as per the conditionalities of the World Bank, there were no conditions at all in Andhra Pradesh. They told the CPI(M) leaders the World Bank had clarified that there were no strings attached to loans being given to Andhra Pradesh.

Congress Chief Whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy and whips S Udaya Bhanu and D Sridhar Babu said it was strange that CPI(M) state secretary B V Raghavulu was talking about World Bank conditions even after Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy announced that he was willing to place all records before anyone interested in seeing them. Under the Right to Information Act brought in by the UPA government, anyone was free to seek any information from the government, they said.

The Congress leaders alleged that local CPI(M) leaders had distorted the statement of Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan for political benefit, forcing him to issue a denial.

They questioned how the CPI(M), which used to frequently charge the erstwhile TDP government of acting as per the dictats of the World Bank, had now joined hands with the TDP.

The Congress leaders said Left Front partners in West Bengal - CPI, RSP and Forward Bloc had complained in the Front meeting yesterday that the CPI(M) had kept the details of the agreement the government signed on the Singoor Tata Motors project a secret, forcing party senior leader Jyothi Basu to reprimand his colleagues.
