Entrepreneurs can bring agricultural revolution:Agri-scientists
Ranchi, Nov 6 (UNI) The agri-scientists have said delay in land reforms and lack of water harvesting facilities were the main reasons behind the Jharkhand's poor agriculture development and stressed the need to develop a action plan for its improvement.
Participating in Ranchi Agricultural college's golden jubilee celebrations today here the scientists were of the view that agriculture sector would develop only when every scholar of the field becomes a entrepreneur.
Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) Vice-Chancellor N N Singh said every year about 22,000 students complete their studies in this field but 40 per cent of them remain unemployed due to lack of coordination between employment opportunities and agricultural education.
Mr Singh stressed on creating better entrepreneurs integrating business management principle with major applied course.
Dean of the Agriculture Faculty A K Sarkar said Indian Council for Agriculture and Research (ICAR) had sanctioned Rs 76 lakh and Rs 63 lakh for a centre of excellence in soil science department and five units of experimental learning centres.
Besides, two art laboratories on 'Plant Clinic' and 'Leaf Tissue Analysis' worth Rs 55 lakh were being setup.
