Dasgupta flays UPA government on economic issue
Jamshedpur, Nov 5 (UNI) AITUC general secretary Gurudas Dasgupta today flayed the UPA government at the Centre for following 'undiluted economic policy' of the previous BJP-led NDA government.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Dasgupta, who came here to mobilsie mass support for the AITUC's proposed 'Capture Delhi' agitation programme on November 23 to protest the Centre's 'faulty' anti-people economic policy, said contratry to the expectation of the people, the government has failed miserably on the economic front.
''Indian economy is totally blind to the need of the people and this government is pro-rich and anti-poor,'' the CPI leader remarked.
Expressing concern over the increasing cases of suicides of farmers in the counrty, Mr Dasgupta said more than 300 farmers had committed suicide in three months.
''The farmers have lost faith even in the words of the Prime Minister,'' he said sarcistacally.
Mr Dasgupta was also critical of the government's 'soft stand' to the corporate sector, who according to him, were reluctant to repay bank loans as well as the stipulated amounts of tax.
Coming down heavily on the Tatas for acquring British steel company Corus recently, Mr Dasgupta said the company was investing India's money in foreign land and termed it ''anti-national''.
He said the AITUC would also call a nation-wide strike on December 14 against the government's ''wrong policies''.
