WACL to discuss AFSPA report tom

Imphal, Nov 4: The Working Committee of Apunba Lup (WCAL) has announced to conduct a meeting to discuss about the Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958 tomorrow to mark the completion of Irom Chanu Sharmila's six years of fast-unto-death.

Sharmila had started the fast demanding repeal of the Act on 5 Nov 2000, is now detained by Delhi Police and being forcibly nasal fed at the AIIMS.

The WCAL, formed after Th Manorama's murder by 17 Asom Rifles in 2004, had been demanding repeal of the Act.

A WCAL statement said the meeting tomorrow would discuss the report of Justice Jeevan Reddy Committee, which had recommended repeal of the AFSPA.

The WCAL has called upon all the people to cease all the works and stop all entertainment programmes tomorrow.

A torch rally would be also be taken out tomorrow to show solidarity with, the state's Iron lady, Sharmila.
