Visveswaran new BJP state unit chief

Puducherry, Nov 4 (UNI) M Visveswaran, General Secretary of the Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, was today elected unopposed as the State President.

Mr Visveswaran was the only one who filed the nomination for the post when filing of nominations came to a close this evening.

A formal announcement of the election would be made at a function here tomorrow by K N Lakshmanan, who is leading a three-member delegation to supervise the organisational elections.

R V Swaminathan, a former party treasurer, was also elected unopposed as the National Executive Committee member from Puducherry.
