Summonses to be issued against all accused in Rahul Mahajan case
New Delhi, Nov 4 (UNI) The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dr Kamini Lau took cognizance of the drug abuse case involving Rahul Mahajan and ordered to issue summonses against all the accused in the case through investigating officer for hearing on January 12, 2007.
According to police, doctors/management of Apollo Hospital had deliberately given false information regarding the drug toxicity suffered by Rahul Mahajan, in order to mislead the investigating agency so as to prevent legal measures.
The police claim to have gathered evidence against some Apollo hospital staff including Ms Reji Chandru (DGM), Dr Mukund Pandey (CMO Casualty), Dr Ali Md Gonai, Dr Awdesh Bansal, Dr Abha Gupta, Dr Anupam Sibal, Dr Prasad Rao, Mohd Akram (Admn Assit/front office/casualty), Sherin Sherin Sara Chako, Ms Dilna Johnia, Harish Sharma, Sitanshu Mittal, nurse Nisha Anna Chako and Shyni Varghese, for trying to "save" Rahul Mahajan.
The police had filed the chargesheet in the court of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
Delhi Police had asked the court that the accused be tried for the commission of offence.
Hence, in view of the aforesaid material of record, the court ordered it was necessary for the investigating officer to add the provisions of section 177 and section 193 of the Indian Penal Code, which the police had not done earlier. The court, therefore, issued summon and adjourned the matter for January 12, 2007.
