Social activist demands arrest of doctors for negligence
Mumbai, Nov 4 (UNI) Former municipal councillor and social activist Mr Nicholas Almeida has lodged a complaint with the police against three doctors, alleging professional misconduct and criminal negligence which led to the death of a person.
In his complaint to the police Mr Almedia said that an Indian passenger Mr Qutbuddin Banglawala who had arrived by the Virgin Atlantic Flight from London to Mumbai on October 31 died due to lack of timely medical attention.
He said that after disembarking from the plane the passenger had collapsed on the ground at the airport itself.
Instead of attending to him immediately, the airport medical staff shifted him to nearby hospitals where he was denied admission by two private hospitals on filmsy grounds.
Finally, he was declared dead at the Kiran care and cure hospital at Andheri east barely fifteen minutes after admission, he rued.
In his complaint to the police yesterday, he has alleged that criminal negligence on the part of the airport medical staff and the two private doctors who refused him timely admission were responsible for the death of the victim.
He has also urged the police to arrest the trio immediately.
