RBI to review Tarapore committee recommendations

Hyderabad, Nov 4 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India will make an evaluation of the implementation of the Tarapore committee recommendations and remove operational impediments in the path of liberalisation already set in motion, RBI Governor Y V Rao said tonight.

''The Central Bank is serious in making a self but independent evaluation,'' he told a conclave of Indian Banks here.

It may be noted that the issues involving current account convertibility and management of capital account had evoked strong opposition from the Left parties, extending crucial outside support to the Manmohan Singh Government.
