Prime Minister, Sonia Gandhi leave for Delhi
Chennai, Nov 4: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who arrived here last night on a two-day visit, left for Delhi by a special aircraft this evening.
They were seen off at the airport by Governor S S Barnala, senior Tamil Nadu Ministers Arcot N Veerasamy, K Ponmudi and Union Ministers P Chidambaram, Dayanidhi Maran, E V K S Elangovan, S S Palani Manickam and TNCC President M Krishnassamy, among others.
Dr Singh, after an overnight stay at the Raj Bhavan, laid the foundation stone for the Global Automotive Testing Centre at Oragadam, about 45 km from here, visited the Nokia facility and inaugurated the Flextronics Park at Sriperumbudur.
Accompanied by Ms Gandhi, Mr Barnala and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Dr Singh also paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at his memorial in the temple town.
Police made elaborate security arrangements in view of the Prime Minister's visit.
