Over 32 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 4 (UNI) Over 32.99 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in Haryana mandis so far this season.

This is 1.89 lakh tonnes more than the arrival of 31.10 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today.

He said that out of the total paddy arrival, over 19.51 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by six Government agencies at the Minimum Support Price and the remaining 13.47 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders.

Mr Chander Mohan said Hafed had procured 8.62 lakh tonnes of paddy, followed by Food and Supplies Department with 5.85 lakhtonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation 2.29 lakh tonnes, Confed with about 1.64 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 99,231 tonnes and Food Corporation of India 10,706 tonnes.

He said Kurukshetra district was leading with about 6.70 lakh tonnes of paddy arrival, followed by Karnal with 4.74 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad 4.71 lakh tonnes, Kaithal 4.21 lakh tonnes and Ambala 2.81 lakh tonnes.

He said the state had also delivered over 1.47 lakh tonnes of rice to the Central Pool so far, as against 78,303 tonnes of rice delivered during the corresponding period last year.
