Mixed trends in precious metal
Mumbai, Nov 4 (UNI) A mixed trend was today witnessed in the prices of precious metals, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said.
Spot silver .999 fineness variety opened low at Rs 19,039 per kg on account of poor demand. Later, it closed at Rs 19,038 per kg with a loss of Rs 37 from its yesterday's close.
There was thin buying support by stockists in view of weak advice from the international markets.
At London, the white metal was quoted low at USD 12.60/12.62 per troy ounce against USD 12.56/12.65 per troy ounce in New York.
However, standard gold (99.5) and pure gold (99.9) also opened high at Rs 9,152 and Rs 9,199 per ten gm respectively.
Both the yellow metals went slightly up and closed at Rs 9,153 and Rs 9,206 per ten gm, with a gain of Rs 24 each from its last close.
There was better demand from ornament-makers in view of encouraging advice from the global centres.
At London, the yellow metal was also high at USD 625/628 per troy ounce as compared to USD 623/627 per troy ounce at New York on Friday.
Following were the spot silver and gold closing prices today: Silver (per kg) .999 grade : Rs 19,038 (19,075) Gold (per 10 gm): Standard mint 99.5 purity : Rs 9,153 (9,129) Pure gold 99.9 purity : Rs 9,206 (9,182).
