Kuwait Shuaiba oil refinery shut down after blast

KUWAIT, Nov 4 (Reuters) Kuwait shut down its 200,000 barrel-per-day Shuaiba oil refinery after a blast at the plant today, but there were no casualties, a Kuwaiti energy official said.

The official said a fire broke out at the 25,000-bpd residue processing unit in Shuaiba refinery, the country's smallest.

Earlier, Dubai-based Al Arabiya television had reported the blast and said there were reports of some casualties.
