Iraqi kidnappers free Greek woman

BAGHDAD, Nov 3 (Reuters) Kidnappers released a Greek woman who works for a non-governmental medical organisation after holding her hostage since Monday, Iraqi and Greek officials said today.

An Iraqi Interior Ministry source said the woman had been freed and Greece's Foreign Ministry named her as Helen Sotiriou, the vice-president of non-governmental body, the Heart Doctors organisation.

''Her adventure had a happy ending. Ms Sotiriou is sound and safe in the building of the Greek embassy in Baghdad,'' Foreign Ministry spokesman George Koumoutsakos said in a statement.

Sotiriou had been kidnapped outside her hotel in central Baghdad on October 30.
