Farmer murdered- body thrown near mutt

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 24 (UNI) Police recovered the body of a 30-year-old agriculturist, reported missing since last evening, near Tiruchendurai jeer mutt here this morning.

Police sources said the deceased P Elangovan went to his farm for agricultural work last evening and thereafter he was reported missing from his native Kadikakurichi village.

Some passerby noticed his body with several cut injuries near the mutt this morning and informed the police.

Elangovan is the younger brother of P Shanmugham , former president of Kadikakurichi panchayat. Police suspect the murder might have been done over political enmitty or some land dispute.

Jeeyarpuram police have registered a case and were investigating.
