Credit card cloning gang busted,four arrested

Jaipur, Nov 4 (UNI) The Special Operations Group (SOG)of the Rajasthan police today arrested 12 members of a gang engaged in cloning of credit cards.

The police have recovered laptops, three writers, 75 cloned white plastic cards, and equipments and sotware from the gang members.

According to police, the arrests have been made from Jodhpur and Jaipur while the team is till searching for the other members of the gang in Agra and New Delhi.

Some local businessmen, in connivance with guides in Jodhpur and Jaipur, used to obtain the sign of foreign tourists on purchase of goods from their shops in the guise of identification. Then they used to make cloned cards and withdraw money from the accounts. It is estimated that the fraud with cloned credit cards is to the tune of Rs 2.5-3 crore.

The gang while taking payments from foreign tourists through credit cards fradulently transferred the credit card date to 'scheming machine' concealed by the guide or shop's owner while swiping. They then withdrew money by using cloned cards using the data.

According to the police, the arrested include the mastermind of the fraud Rajendra Bansal and Vijay Talwar. Rajendra Bansal was earlier also involved in such crime and was arrested by the CBI in a similar case, police sources said.
