Counterfeit note racket unearthed

Hubli, Nov 4 (UNI) Police have busted a counterfeit note racket with the arrest of three persons and seizure of Rs 98,400 worth fake notes in Haveri district of Karnataka.

Police said a five-member gang had printed and circulated fake notes in the denomination of Rs 500, Rs 100 and Rs 50 in the vicinity of Ranebennur town in Haveri district.

Acting on a tip off, Halageri police arrested Anand Navale (40), the prime accused, Basappa Kadadakatti of Tadasanahalli and Rajesh of Tirthahalli and seized the notes, a computer, a scanner and a printing machine.

The accused have confessed that they have circulated fake notes worth Rs two lakh so far.

Police were on the look out for the other two accused.
