Constable arrested for murdering Woman Head Constable

Bangalore, Nov 4 (UNI) A Police Constable has been arrested on the charge of murdering a Woman Head Constable in the city on October 28 last.

Bangalore District Superintendent of Police K Srinivas, in a statement here yesterday, said that during interrogation, Manjunath had confessed to having picked up Pushpalatha from Ramanagaram on the city suburbs under the pretext of teaching her car driving and murdered her on the way to the city. After robbing the jewellery, Manjunath had doused her body with petrol and set it ablaze.

He said Manjunath was arrested on November 1 following a complaint by Mr Shivarudraiah alias Shivanna, the husband of the deceased. Mr Shivanna, in his complaint filed with the Ramanagar Police on October 29, had said his wife, who went for a morning walk, did not return and suspected Manjunath's involvement.
