CM's private office to function in Kashmir during winter

Srinagar, Nov 4 (UNI) For the first time since the introduction of Darbar move (shifting of seat of the government to winter and summer capitals) in 1872, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has decided to keep his private office open in Srinagar for redressal of the grievances of people during harsh winter when government functions from Jammu.

The Darbar move practice between the two state capitals--Srinagar for six summer months and Jammu for six winter months-- remained in practice since it was introduced in 1872 during Maharaja Ranbir Singh's rule.

Earlier, winter secretariat was functioning here during winter months.

Mr Ajaz Ahmed Kakroo, Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister will head the private office here during the winter months.

Mr Kakroo said with a view to providing quick and effective response to the people of the valley while facing hardships during the ensuring winter months, the private office here will remain open.

He said the main purpose of opening of the private office here is to redress the grievances of the people of Kashmir when the entire government functions from Jammu..

The people have been requested to approach the private office for redressal of their grievances either in person or on telephone.

The schedule of the public hearings to be held by the Chief Minister at Srinagar and other district head-quarters to take stock of the developmental works, functioning of administration and on-the-spot redressal of the grievances of the people will be notified from time to time.
