Clijsters crushes Kloesel to reach Hasselt Cup semis

HASSELT, Belgium, Nov 3 (Reuters) Top seed Kim Clijsters today powered past Germany's Sandra Kloesel 6-1 6-0 to reach the semi-finals of the Hasselt Cup.

Holder Clijsters, playing her first tournament after a two-month layoff caused by a wrist injury, next meets Aravane Rezai of France or Russia's Vera Zvonareva.

The Belgian world number six outclassed her opponent, winning the match in less than an hour.

Estonian qualifier Kaia Kanepi stunned second seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy 6-2 7-5 while Serbian third seed Ana Ivanovic lost 6-3 6-4 to Michaella Krajicek of Netherlands.

Kanepi takes on Krajicek in the semis.
